Teresa in SPOP singing 《雨伞》, Teresa in SPOP singing 《你最珍贵》with Chen Weilian

Teresa in SPOP singing 《雨伞》:

Teresa's singing is amazing and it's not because I support her singing. Listen carefully. You may initially think that this video version's sound quality was because the crytalline-clear singing was ripped from the studio recording version. When you have finished listening, you would probably realized that Teresa's SPOP actual live version was almost identical to the studio version on my IMEEM player!

One thing is proven again and again, Teresa's quality singing is absolutely amongst the best and has definitely lent the song even more strength and soul.

Please continue to vote for the song on the SPOP website. The song is on the leaderboard in terms of votes but there is still a long way to go. Voting is free and every registered member can vote up to 10 times!

Teresa in SPOP singing 《你最珍贵》with Chen Weilian:

Yes! The highly-anticipated duet between Teresa and Chen Weilian is finally out. I got the source from Chen Weilian's fanclub so am crediting them for this video. Notice how nervous Chen Weilian was when he was told to touch Teresa's face - he was literally stammering and blushing at the same time.

Their duet was very nice indeed. I particularly loved the ending harmonization - done to near perfection. Well done, Teresa and Weilian!

Teresa Tseng 唯我独尊 TV advertisement, Christmas Eve Celebrations with Family, 汤圆-making session at home

Teresa Tseng on 唯我独尊 TV advertisement:
Here's another series of beautiful screenshots taken on television showing the rising Superstar Teresa Tseng doing an advertisement for MediaCorp Channel U. Pretty hor? The makeup is a little bit heavy but I suppose MediaCorp likes seeing Teresa as an angel, a fitting image that her supporters always believed in.

Christmas Eve Celebrations with Family:

Been so busy these days and yesterday was finally a day to get my family out for a nice dinner and a short trip to Orchard Road to look at the Christmas lights decorations and experience the Christmas Eve crowd in the city.

We ordered Seafood Salad and Oven-Baked Mussels for starters, Almond-Coated Lamp Chop, Sauteed Salmon Steak, Seafood Splash Pizza, Chicken Oven-Baked Rice for main courses and Chocolate Fondue for dessert.

It was nice just seeing my parents tucking happily into the food. They are already very old and don't move around that easily but their appetite last night was very good. We finished all the food in a hearty meal before moving on to Orchard Road to view the festive light decorations.

Orchard Roard was jam-packed with people - all sorts of revellers and diners who had finished their Christmas Eve dinners and were going out for their stroll along the streets. There were many stalls alongside Orchard Road but with the crowd pushing and shoving, I only managed to slip in a couple of shots because I had to make sure my parents were not pushed and shoved by the crowd.

Some photos to commemorate my family Christmas Eve celebrations.

A delicious fondue dessert at Swensen's. The chocolate is really sinful but hey, it's Christmas Eve dinner and I don't really worry about that so much.

The shot is blurred because someone pushed me. But the lights were still nice though I expected more decorations.
A stunning effort to hang all those lights from the high tree-tops. These were glowing on and off and imagine the difficulty of aiming for the right moment whilst walking in the middle of the crowd. Still, I caught a shot of it.
汤圆-making session at home:
Last Saturday was 元宵届, and we were supposed to eat 汤圆. Last year we bought them and they did not taste good so this year, my mother said, "Sean, you will help me make them this year!"
"Orrrh", I replied and these were the results...

Not bad eh? From the shapeless dough, I successfully transformed them into delicious-looking 汤圆. + 1 to my cooking skill. Yay~~~

I have got to go off again. Tonight I will be meeting up my VIP friends for movies and steamboat. Hope everyone is having fun too.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you out there!

Updated Photos of Teresa Tseng and Campus Superstars:

This photograph is taken from Khim's blog and it's probably taken after Star Awards 2007 on 16 December. Shown in the photograph is Khim and Teresa.

This photograph is taken from Xu Zhengrong, Dasmond's blog. I believe it must be either taken during the Star Awards 2007 rehearsals or during the Post Party because the two girls' makeup are still on. Shown in the photograph from left to right are Shawn Tok (CSS 2), Renfred Ng (CSS 1), Geraldine See (CSS 1) and of course Teresa Tseng (CSS 1).
This photograph is a screenshot of the televised Star Awards 2007 where MediaCorp presented some of its most promising young Superstars of the future. We see Renfred, Shawn, Teresa and Geraldine onstage presenting themselves in front of some of Singapore's television and entertainment moguls.

Publicity for 《雨伞》

I have been trying to reach Dione Tan, the songwriter for the abovementioned song to coordinate with her to publicize for the song but she seems uncontactable at the moment. So I have to proceed without her, hopefully only for the moment. Dione, if this blog post manages to reach you, can you contact me via the MSN address on my blog please?

I have put up the song from the SPOP voting website onto my IMEEM embedded player on my blog so that more listeners who have not had the chance to visit the SPOP voting website can hear how the song goes. (Disclaimer: This move is only put up for pure sake of publicity and with no intention of achieving any monetary profit for myself.)

In addition I have also included a Youtube video of Dione Tan singing the original song with her own piano accompaniment, as well as the lyrics of the song below.

Hope everyone can enjoy the song and of course be moved by it to vote for the song. Voting procedure is very simple - Go to the website. Register if you are not a member. Start voting. Voting is free and every member can vote for 10 times everyday until the closing date in 2008

Movie Review: The Warlords (2007), More Beautiful People From Human Pets, Battlestations! Victories

Movie Review: The Warlords (2007) 《投名状》

This movie was watched last night together with The Changed Man and The Married Soldier and it was a very impressionable movie because the story tells of how three people formed a brotherhood of blood and went on for a series of successful military conquests but ended up in a bloody conflict between all three of them.
The film is set in the 1860s, during the Taiping Rebellion in the late Qing Dynasty in China. The story, based on an unresolved crime, tells of three sworn brothers (played by Andy Lau, Jet Li and Takeshi Kaneshiro) who turn on one another over a beautiful woman (Xu Jinglei).
However, everything was not as smooth as it seemed. The eldest brother (Jet Li) was in a secret love affair with the wife of the second brother (Andy Lau). All three men have very different ideals about how they wanted their lives to be. The youngest brother, Takeshi Kaneshiro, only wanted unity within the brotherhood. The second brother wanted his home village to be protected and well-fed from the ravages of the warlords during the Taiping Rebellion. The eldest brother wanted peace for the entire country and was prepared to shed as much blood as necessary to achieve his personal goal.
Everything set for the explosive end when the secret love affair was brought into light and the Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty began to exert all sorts of pressure to destroy the brotherhood, which was becoming a very dangerously powerful military force when it successfully quelled two major cities supporting the Taiping Rebellion.
Memorable scenes included how the initial small army of eight hundred men from the Brotherhood engaged an enemy army of five thousand, the bloody decision to annihilate four thosand unarmed Taiping soldiers and the eventual showdown between the three warlord brothers.

More Beautiful People From Human Pets:

Recently, I have the good luck to induct more attractive-looking people into my Human Pets collection on Facebook. I choose them and bidded quite a lot of points to get some of them because I think they have that attractive smile, good facial features and of course a nice radiance of health and vibrance.

Now, now, don't get any ideas to steal them from me can? I wouldn't dare to display them on my blog if I have not prepared a decent budget to protect them from other Human Pets poachers. Haha. Just look and enjoy their beautiful profile pictures la.

Battlestations! Victories:

I am also active in another Facebook application game known as Battlestations! and in the game, I am commandeering an airship which can be outfitted with many different weapons and parts for aerial combat or exploration against all sorts of NPC airships and monsters.

It looks easy on the eye but you will need a little bit of planning because the costs of those equipment (in terms of gold, wood, ores and plasma rocks) can be very demanding and many players are outfitted with their individualized combinations of weaponry, making the game fun to play but not stressful to maintain whenever I log on to blow some airships to pieces..haha

The following are some of my recent defensive victories to share with my readers. Click the links to view the combat scenes.

Home Performance Video (2 takes): 《旋律》by 林宇中

Alright. It's the weekend and I am here to entertain all of you readers out there again.

I have made a video featuring myself singing Ai Mei by Rainie Yang to amuse everyone so please be kind and try not to laugh too hard.

Yes! You! Don't laugh until I can hear on my side can? At least I am brave enough to put it up. Hahaha..hope you can enjoy the performance anyway! =)

What can be worse than death? - Cruelty, SPOP Hurray Concert On The Move Goodie Bag Contents, Crazy and Fun Quizzes, 有时唱歌爽就可以了

What can be worse than death? - Cruelty (to anything)

Kailin, you were asking me the other day what can be so scary about death. It's actually not the cessation of breath and life because there are worse things than those. Why don't I let the video I find do the talking?

Do you see my point now?

SPOP Hurray Concert On The Move Goodie Bag Contents:

Time to inspect my booty from the event. Hahaha..Hmm... I have two packets of 3-in-1 coffee (for people like me who sleep very late sometimes), hairdye packages (I need to dye my hair..how timely), teeth-whitening toothpaste (me go check mirror later), calendar and postcards of Korean TV dramas (will keep and give to my Korean-maniac friends) and two packets of issues (which I can use to blow my nose in the cold weather of December).

Crazy and Fun Quizzes:

Okay. I koped the quizzes from Khim's blog bcos she is very good in finding such stuff so credit Khim for the following quizzes to show how I may possibly be. Hahaha.

Lets101 Quizzes - Fun Quiz

Hmm....I think most of this analysis is quite accurate, except for the very sexy part - I really cannot imagine myself being sexy..hahaha but the rest of the quizzes keep harassing me with their results.

My sex appeal is 8.3 out of 10.
Ladies beware!!!

Lets101 - Free Online Dating Network

Erm...ok. So all you ladies better stay away from me bcos the quiz says I am dangerous..hahaha

Addictive content in my personality is 80%

Beware!!! people easily get addicted to me

Lets101 Quizzes - blog quizzes

Erm...so this addiction is good or bad? But the word "addiction" is negatively connotated ley.

Lets101 Quizzes - fun Myspace quiz

Okay, so must I go hunting for ladies who are with the zodiac signs Cancer, Libra, Sagitarius, Virgo, and Leo? Please take a queue number and meet me can? Hahaha...

This is like so -______-

Life is tough for poor Sean. Fortunately, there are people who can still make me smile. For example the video below this.

有时唱歌爽就可以了

可为,虽然听得不是很清楚,但是不要紧,你们唱得那么开心,自然,也是另一番的享受。哈哈~~ ^__^

Teresa Tseng Performing 《早安老师》with Campus Superstars on Star Awards 25th Drama Anniversary 09 Dec 2007

Pardon the low quality photos because they were snap shots when I realized Teresa actually had a performance item during the MediaCorp Star Awards tonight. So I quickly whipped out my handphone camera and took as many shots as I could. The black lines interfered with the quality of the shots but I suppose it's better than nothing ba.

Teresa was singing the lead part of 《早安老师》with a number of the Superstars but I was so engrossed in taking photographs and I could not accurately name all the others. =P

But one thing is for sure, MediaCorp loves Teresa enough to let her lead a performance during such an important event and I believe Teresa's hard work and efforts throughout the two years so far earned such a credential. Very happy for the girl indeed.

Teresa put up an excellent performance and I think her wondrous and high-quality singing together with the other Campus Superstars brought back such fond memories of the super-successful television series that Chen Liping, the original star actress was actually weeping away in her seat after the performance.

Report on The SPOP Hurray! Concert On The Move 08 Dec 2007

Phew, I am finally back from attending the abovementioned event and I must say that it was both a very enjoyable and yet frustrating event. Why do I say that? The reasons are below:

Apparently, the so-called Priority Boarding Passes were completely useless because when both Blanket and myself were there, there was no announcement about those with the special passes get to board first. In fact, there was no differentiation between those who went there at the boarding venue bus stop to collect passes and those who went all the way down to MediaCorp to collect theirs.

Also the organization for the boarding capacity was also in a complete mess. It seemed me that there were more people waiting (without passes) at the boarding venue and when the bus was full, the people who could not get onboard started arguing with MediaCorp personnel, wanting to get onboard even though the bus was already over-packed. Both Blanket and myself, with Priority Boarding Passes, had to stand for the entire journey with our views blocked by those without passes! In the end, MediaCorp relented and the bus was packed even more like sardines and almost 80% of the people onboard have no views to watch the celebrities sing (because the celebrities were all in the front portion of the articulated bus whilst nearly 50 people were jam-packed into the second portion of the bus - imagine the squeeze).

This photograph shows MediaCorp personnel blocking the back exit of the bus and negotiating with all those who have no passes and wanting to go onboard. The latter won and another ten more squeezed in.
The end result was this. After looking at what was happening, both Blanket and myself decided and successfully managed to move forward to the middle portion of the bus and thus managed to get a better view of the celebrities, which accounted for the remaining photographs taken. Blanket, using his much more advanced Cybershot camera, took more high-resolution photos of our dearest Teresa. At the moment of typing of this post, he must be busy selecting and uploading those pictures so everyone will get another series of photos on Teresa - be patient.

I myself was also interested in documenting as much of the trip's happenings as possible, including the performances of the other celebrities as well because I want to make this blog post an informative read for everyone else other than the faithful supporters of Teresa. This photograph shows Cuifang and Weibin, the hosts for the 2pm to 4pm bus concert. They worked very hard to secure the attention of the people onboard. My compliments to them.
This is Mi Lu Bing. SuperBand Season One Champions, who sang three songs and performed very well onboard despite the moving and shaking of the bus. I am very impressed by their live performance prowess but I am deeply disappointed by the behaviour of their supporters. Why? Because after Mi Lu Bing's performances, their supporters became rowdy and uncooperative, demanding to leave the bus even in the middle of the other celebrities' performances. That was totally bad form of them and I hope if their fanclub leaders get to read this, please rein them in because their behaviour was totally disrespectful to the other celebrities and all those who were there for not just Mi Lu Bing.
The three guys from Mi Lu Bing again, helping one another with the microphones and their guitar as well. I believe they are good celebrities but if my blog post actually reached them, perhaps they should also ask their supporters to behave better. Good performances still.
This is Nathaniel from Project Superstar Season Two. His singing has always been very good and he knows how to interact with the audience as well. I enjoyed his performance but I respected his ability to be understanding even though Mi Lu Bing's supporters were screaming for Mi Lu Bing in the middle of his performance. Nathaniel was nice enough to even wave to the departing Mi Lu Bing whilst singing when he saw the commotion of the former's supporters. Meanwhile, I was holding myself back from publicly admonishing Mi Lu Bing's supporters for being so rude and rowdy as they were interrupting Nathaniel's performance.
Nathaniel concentrating on his song even though the bus was making a huge turn. He maintained his falsetto buildup throughout the turn, undisturbed by all the commotion. Two extra points for his professionalism.

Two more Project Superstars Season Two celebrities singing their hearts out. I vaguely remembered their song was about some mosquito biting (a top 12 SPOP composition) and the lyrics were really funny. I was using the handphone to comment to Blanket (even though he was just standing in front of me) because the bus was so noisy from the talkative Mi Lu Bing's supporters.
Teresa finally appeared and she was seen her dressed casually in a black shirt and blue jeans, interacting with the two hosts onboard.
Another mega-watt smile flashed by Teresa as she responded to the comical tauting from the hosts that Teresa has many boyfriends under her belt. She was calm and composed and seemed to be able to cope with the emcees' questions with great ease and skill. Two extra points for her emcee interaction skills.
Teresa sang her designated song 雨伞, another SPOP top 12 song composition, and I must say the song was really difficult to emote and the lyrics and lines were tough to transit. Teresa did her best and the song was completed competently. The songwriter sang alongside with Teresa but she was blocked by the head of a tall girl standing in the way of my handphone camera.
Maxilian, from Project Superstar Season Two and Zhengning, from Campus Superstar Season Two, sang a duet together for yet another SPOP top 12 song composition. Maxilian's voice was quite good and Zhengning improved alot since I last hear her sing live. The duet was well done and my compliments to them as well. =)

Teresa sang a second song for some onboard game. This time, the song was 我要快乐 by Amei and her vocal prowess was in full blast again, impressing even some of the noisier Mi Lu Bing's supporters at the back of the bus to stop talking and start listening. Teresa knows her Amei songs by heart and the song was done excellently even though the bus was moving and swaying here and there. She was in full concentration of the song and the organizers actually removed the music from the song at the final portion but it totally did not affect Teresa's singing at all. Everyone onboard thus heard how crystal clear and powerful Teresa's singing was. Way to go, Teresa!
This is Teresa smiling at Blanket and myself as she caught both of us struggling to take photographs of her performances on the bus. Glad she still recognized both of us by sight and she acknowledged our presence with her smile as she continued her Amei song to her par excellence standard.
Zhengning was seen here doing a fast number and she is still one of the rare Campus Superstars who can do a fast song well even without the dancing. Too bad the bus was swaying so badly or her performance with a dance would surely rock the bus mood even more. She has improved alot and I believe she has finally caught a look at me after she asked Teresa who she was waving to when the trip had ended. Zhengning, if you are reading, well done on your performances today.
The guys from Project Superstar Season Two doing their best again for another number. The third could not be seen because some uncle with a massive camera was hopping around filming everyone and everything, much to the chagrin of those people behind who happened to be shorter and thus could catch even less of the performances onboard.
Maxilian was the last performer before the bus turned into Bukit Batok Bus Interchange. She did her best to entertain the audience onboard but I think most of them were too exhausted to be really listening to her. By then, my legs were already numb from tiptoeing on end. Yes, all the above photographs were taken with me tiptoeing. It was a tough job and I was like sticking my tongue in exhaustion when Teresa looked in our direction. The girl just laughed and smiled appreciatingly.
.
When both Blanket and myself disembarked from the bus, we tried to take another round of photographs of Teresa but the windows reflected our shots and thus there was too little light to do so. Despite that, Teresa saw us and we waved our goodbyes to her as the bus moved on to another location to allow the celebrities to rest.
.
I don't know if Teresa is still onboard the second or the third leg of the SPOP Hurray Concert On The Move trip but I was really glad that she was appreciative of our presence onboard and of course, managed yet again to excel in her performances even on a moving, crowded and noisy bus.
.
Well, now I have to wait for Blanket's photographs to be processed. Those will be uploaded onto the main fanclub site and I will also put them up here on my blog for everyone else to see as well.
.
That's all for the report. Hope everyone has a better idea of how the 2pm trip went. =) I need to go eat my dinner now..See you folks around.

Updated. There are some of the higher-quality photographs of Teresa taken by Blanket. Enjoy!

SPOP Hurray! Concert On The Move 08 Dec 2007 Part 2

Okay. Short post before I have to rush out from my place again. I have just returned from MediaCorp with the abovementioned. Hopefully, the above priority boarding pass will help me bring exclusive coverage of the event. I have already calculated the number of people onboard the bus so I think I have a good enough idea of how the bus capacity is going to be like.
.
However, due to security concerns, I will only describe in detail the ongoing things onboard the bus after the whole event is over because I am sure nobody wants to compromise the security parameters for so many celebrities onboard, right? Don't worry, although my priority celebrity is Teresa, I will also post as many pictures of the celebrities' performance onboard as possible so do stay tuned to this blog.
.
Interestingly, when I looked at the list of people holding onto the priority boarding passes, the NRIC numbers vary tremendously. This means we are going to have a good mix of concert audience coming from different age groups - the perfect cover that I needed to stay low and get all the time I need to enjoy, observe and blog about the concert.
.
I have made contact with Teresa and she will be expecting me there. She should be fielding two songs onboard the bus. Hopefully, it will be a enjoyable and memorable meeting with her again, and maybe finally a chance to meet the Campus Superstars 2 people after the CSS 2 competition. =)

Movie Review: Hitman (2007), Christmas Album with MediaCorp Stars, Random Pictures For Fun

Movie Review: Hitman (2007)
I went to watch the movie with one of my students as it was his school holiday and the movie turned out alright. Plotwise, the movie is about a professional top assassin who was betrayed by the very organization (called "The Organization", duh) which he was working for and he went on a search to find out why. In the process, a prostitute was somehow involved in it and there was some vaguely amusing scenes as the prostitute engaged in witty exchanges with the cold-blooded assassin who seemed to have a soft spot for her (he did not kill her even though he killed almost everyone else who had seen his face).

The action was good but a little exaggerated because Hitman 47 seemed nearly invincible, and easily tackled an entire battalion of Alpha soldiers (elite Russian Special Forces) without a sweat. But the ways in which he handled his assassination assignments were quite creative and I suppose those reflected some of the tricks used in the original computer game.

I would rate the movie a 3 out of 5 because of the ingenuity of the assassin himself and that he really looked the part with his bald but very cool-minded head. Some of the nudity scenes rendered the movie NC-16 but I really thought those scenes were totally unnecessary as they did not contribute to the overall plot of the movie.

Christmas Album with MediaCorp Stars:

I have received news that the MediaCorp annual Christmas Album for Dec 2007 is out on the shelves but sickeningly for me, the shops around my vicinity seemed to be backdated and I could not buy myself a copy yet even at the time of this blog post.

Anyway, I was happy to receive a kind consolation from one of Teresa's fanclub members. She gave the following picture, which was actually a calendar poster given together with the album. I was grateful but surprised as well because I had thought MediaCorp had promised a music video of the album but instead a calendar was included in its place. Nevertheless, I am putting the poster up here as eye-candy for all those readers who have not bought the album yet.

Random Pictures For Fun:

I was conducting a lesson with one of my students when he brought out a souvenir from his holiday trip - a rubber band gun! It's amazing because I have never seen such a weapon before. He demonstrated how it worked to me and the weapon can actually load up to 20 rubber bands.
The whole thing brought back fond memories of my schooldays where rubberband wars were in fashion then. Classmates would bring all sorts of rubberbands weapons that they had invented and used to them against other classmates, adding much fun and craziness in-between those boring classes. I wished I had this rubberband gun back then - with its technological edge, I would have been the overlord in those rubberband wars! Hahaha...

Wooden rubberband gun with a magazine capacity of 20 rubber bands. The range was impressive - up to about 20 metres (which would have been more than enough in a classroom rubberband war..hahaha)

Another random picture of my dinner (Seafood Claypot at $4.80) last night at an undisclosed location. It's beee eons since I ate claypot rice because it is very heaty but last night was draughty and cold so it was the perfect time to enjoy a steaming claypot rice. Nice juicy prawns.

961130 超級星光大道:1 對 1 PK 賽 林健輝 VS 曾沛慈 (Part II)

LK, a singing enthusiast, as well as a music student of a school, send me a second group of videos of a Taiwanese singing competition and lo and behold, it's the same pair of competitors again! As with my previous related post, why don't all of you singing enthusiasts and readers view their performances before reading what I have to say about their singing of the four songs? Enjoy!

林健輝's My Way was excellently sung - why do I say that? This song is around ever since my father's time and he had played the song and sung the song for countless times so I actually grew up with this song. The song is very difficult to sing live and emote at the same time but 林健輝 managed to secure the song with equally good techniques and very composed emoting. He definitely deserved the 21 points. The only fault I find in his rendition of that song is that he seemed to prematurely end some of the lines when he could have stretched them out a second more, giving the song the lushness needed to further move the audience. But as I said, it is a very challenging song and I am most impressed with his courage.

曾沛慈's first song by Tanya Chua managed to touch the essence of the song, as she correctly sung what was necessary to bring out the feel behind the lyrics of the song - the sense of helplessness portrayed by the song persona. It seemed to me that she has complete understanding of how this song should feel and that is one major plus in my assessment of her performance of this song. The only two problems that I find in 曾沛慈's singing are that her pained expression is overly-done and she tends to breathe into the microphone, which sort of affected the audio smoothness of her song.

My personal viewpoint of their first round of performances - 林健輝 should be the winner whilst 曾沛慈 should be scoring around 20. 林健輝 improved on his emoting and expression of his performance whilst 曾沛慈 had shown less improvement in her overall skills of performance.

For the second round of their performances, I fully concur with one of the judges's comments that neither of them sung as well as their first round of singing because both of them are like so nervous and sung off-beat.

I was particularly disappointed by 林健輝's selection of his second song because it has little room to display any further strengths that he may have and he was not really rushing his song, seemingly investing much less emotions in his second song altogether. I really disliked that lapse of concentration in his second round.

曾沛慈 did not fare any better than her male counterpart either - she sang the song way too slowly and messed up the supposedly light feel of the song. Her breathing into the microphone and her overly-pained expression again amplified her weaknesses in her second song.

My personal viewpoint of their second round of performances - Draw. Both of them should be scoring no higher than a 17 point because they messed up their songs and did not show the necessary intensity to engage their songs and bring them forward to the listeners and audience.

Well, that is all for my analysis of their performances. I know there are strong supporters for both of the competitors but that is how I feel for their performances this time round. May the best wins!
