Teresa Tseng Performing 《早安老师》with Campus Superstars on Star Awards 25th Drama Anniversary 09 Dec 2007

Pardon the low quality photos because they were snap shots when I realized Teresa actually had a performance item during the MediaCorp Star Awards tonight. So I quickly whipped out my handphone camera and took as many shots as I could. The black lines interfered with the quality of the shots but I suppose it's better than nothing ba.

Teresa was singing the lead part of 《早安老师》with a number of the Superstars but I was so engrossed in taking photographs and I could not accurately name all the others. =P

But one thing is for sure, MediaCorp loves Teresa enough to let her lead a performance during such an important event and I believe Teresa's hard work and efforts throughout the two years so far earned such a credential. Very happy for the girl indeed.

Teresa put up an excellent performance and I think her wondrous and high-quality singing together with the other Campus Superstars brought back such fond memories of the super-successful television series that Chen Liping, the original star actress was actually weeping away in her seat after the performance.

Highly Anticipated! 《你最珍贵》Duet Between Teresa Tseng and Chen Weilian on SPoP

Chen Weilian, Teresa Tseng, Quan Yifeng and Fang Zhonghua onstage during the duet. Teresa, in a white dress and a new hairstyle, looking fabulous and enjoying the song with Weilian.

Hi faithful supporters of Teresa!

A faithful supporter of Teresa found out for himself some of the upcoming events of Teresa so I suppose there is no way to keep some of these events unannounced. So here it goes:

1) Teresa will be scheduled to appear on national television very soon
2) Teresa will be scheduled to appear on the SPoP Competition in early November.
3) Teresa has been invited by Chen Weilian to sing on the SPoP Competition.
4) Teresa will be performing a new song on the S... C..........
5) Teresa will be performing a duet with Chen Weilian during the SPoP Competition singing 《
6) Teresa will be a..... in one or two e....... of a t......... d.... in early J......

Well, all the faithful supporters of Teresa can finally rejoice because Teresa will be singing songs on national television once again and this time, with PSS 1 Overall Champion Chen Weilian!

I can already see the waves of anticipation coming in because both of their voices are already very good. Imagine how they will sound together in one of the classic love ballads of Jacky Cheung,

For those who have not heard this song before, you can go ahead to my blog at http://heaven-earth-human.blogspot.com/ and click on song number 37 for the original rendition first.

There is still more though, with two more events still unannounced, meaning more good things to come along for Teresa and her supporters out there! In the meantime, stay tuned to SPoP competition if you can to catch what is possibly the most beautiful duet of the year! Woohoo~~

Teresa in MediaCorp's Christmas Album 2007! Woohoo!

Hi faithful supporters of Teresa!

This is one of the two events that I spoke of! Finally I am allowed to speak openly about it!

Channel U website has officially released news of the album and even two group shots with Teresa and three other CSS 1 Superstars such as Renfred, Geraldine and Alejandro as well.

The URL link is http://u.mediacorptv.com/storylanding.htmIn the Christmas album, Teresa will be singing a group song as follows

Medley: Deck The Hall + Feliz Navidad By

and according to Thomas, here are some more exciting news about Teresa coming right up but I am given the gag order again! -_________-

Some of you must be wondering why does poor Sean have gag orders all the time? Well, it's because Teresa wants to make sure everything is in order before announcing any news but I think all these news are worth getting excited already. She's the kind of person who does not want people to get ga-ga over things when the final piece of the work is not completely put into place.

Another common question I faced is: Why do they only tell Sean about those first-hand updates? Well, I suppose it's because they trust me enough and believe I am not the kind of person who will spill the beans prematurely under temptation, lure or threat. I am also a more organized person, familiar with publicity and such so I get to prepare the groundwork before any piece of update becomes official news. The good thing is I know some things earlier than the public. The bad thing is I must keep my mouth shut until permission is given to release the news.

Anyway, I managed to get permission from Teresa's family to write about the following exciting events in another indirect way without officially spilling any beans on anything yet. Decipher it yourself. Remember, I didn't say anything ah!

Here it goes...scream if you can decipher them all! It's good news all the way!

1) Teresa will be scheduled to appear on n....... t......... very soon
2) Teresa will be scheduled to appear on the S... C.......... in early N.......
3) Teresa has been invited by C... W...... to sing on the S... C..........
4) Teresa will be performing a new song on the S... C..........

And for those who are observant enough, there is something else hidden within one of the lines of the article in "陈凤玲穿上性感白色小礼服、白薇秀的俏丽绿色丝质连身裙、曾咏霖的优雅贵气的黑裙". Go figure out ba. I am not telling. =P

Teresa's Remixed Song in Latest 881 Dance Track, Exclusive Photos of Ang Mo Kio Wet Market Fire

Teresa's Remixed Song in 881 Dance Tracks Album:

I am so proud of Teresa (her photo is at the bottom centre of the album cover, right alongside her favourite singers, Zhang Hui Mei and F.I.R) because she has yet again manages to surprise everyone with her song paricipation in the latest movie dancetrack album of the famous local movie 881. Teresa's song inside the album is the last song known as 爱昧 (funky remix version) and although she has only one song in the album, it already speaks volumes of how her singing is appreciated by even movie and album producers.

Way to go, Teresa! A Campus Superstar who continues to shine again and again and again! Stay tuned to her because I am expecting more good things coming from this girl!

Exclusive Photos of Ang Mo Kio Wet Market Fire:

I was in the vicinity for work when I heard a lot of sirens wailing past and before I knew, Xiangrui of TFC smsed me about the fire. When my work was done, I headed in the direction of the Ang Mo Kio Wet Market and took the following exclusive photographs with my camera phone. The shots were taken faraway because the police cordoned off quite a big area but still, I managed to slip in these two:

What you see is just a fraction of the number of heavy duty fire engines and numerous police patrol cars completely surrounding the wet market. There goes my favourite BBQ chicken wings stall and my nasi lemak stall. Haiz...
This shot is special because you can still see fire burning inside the charred wet market (see the red spot at the right-centre of the photograph above). The angle was taken through a HDB flat towards one of the long rows of food stalls, which sadly are now completed gutted. As I ploughed through the hundreds of onlookers, I could still hear the explosions coming from somewhere inside the wet market. What a fire!

Teresa's Winning Entry For CHIJ KC Chinese Composition Writing Competition 2007

Well, Michelle of Teresa's fanclub has informed me of the following and I think it will be nice to share another piece of good news with all the supporters of Teresa about how she has done in the intra-school Chinese composition writing competition this year.

Have fun reading! =D

Position: 第一名
Title:
Tseng Yung Lin (Chinese & Eng)
Class: SEC 302
Stream:

Teresa Tseng's Fanclub Friendster and Blog, Successful Home WebcamVideos

Teresa Tseng's Fanclub Friendster and Blog:

Besides the official fanclub and forum at http://idollic.com/teresa and my blog here, supporters of Teresa Tseng (曾咏霖) of Campus Superstar Season 1 have come up with a fanclub friendster and a fanclub blog for the talented and beautiful young Superstar singer as well. The fanclub friendster is at http://profiles.friendster.com/28484157 and the fanclub blog is at http://www.teresaloveyou.blogspot.com/. So for all those people who are keen to drop a message of support to Teresa Tseng, you are most welcome to visit any of these places!

And yes, Teresa's birthday is on the coming 19 October 2007 so come on down and get your birthday wishes across to her!

Successful Home Webcam Videos:

After the Monday night's fiasco performances, I went home with a vengeance and on the very next morning, I used my desktop webcam and created a total of six homemade performances of my singing of the following songs:

1) 《苏丽珍》By 方大同

2)《最近的距离》By 陈晓东

3)《Sorry》By 苏永康

Well, although there are some mistakes made in the videos (I was laughing at myself when I saw the replays), but I was glad that they came out pretty alright (at least much better than what I did on Monday night) and comments made by those whom I sent the videos too was generally positive.

The verdict - I am capable of doing better onstage so I am going to try harder the next time I get to sing with live music again. My thanks to all those friends who have encouraged me over the MSN and the blog's tagboard.

Updates and Modifications On The Blog 28 Aug 2007

For those of you who hope to see more photographs of Teresa during the CSS 2 Grand Finals...

The highly-anticipated and highly-acclaimed opening item by Zhiyang and Teresa. I believe nobody would mind if they had sung the entire song instead of just a few lines that night.

The fondly-remembered Campus Superstars Season 1 Top 10 posing after their group opening item. I heard they wanted to sing live but organizers insisted on pre-recording their singing, which in my opinion, was not really necessary.

Very interesting and stylistic postures by the five ladies of CSS 1. I remembered it was quite nice to hear their voices blend into the song then. Enjoyable performance.

Brilliant Superstar smiles from Zhiyang, Clara, Teresa and Khim with a mischievous pout. Haha...

Let me guess - this is most probably taken backstage after their successful opening performances on the Grand Finals night. They definitely looked very high that night.

Photographs of Teresa Tseng 曾咏霖 At The Campus Superstars 2 Grand Finals

Teresa radiating superstar power (at front row, first from left) with Khim, Zhiyang, Geraldine, Yuyang, Adriano, Renfred, Yiyuan, Clara and Yvonne of Campus Superstars Season 1. This photograph was taken by MediaCorp photographers immediately after the crowning of Campus Superstar Season 2 Overall Champion.
Teresa in a friendly headbump photograph with well-known MediaCorp compere Xu Zhengrong. This photograph, most probably taken oustide a MediaCorp studio area was discovered by Blanket, a fanclub photographer of TFC.
Teresa and singing a duet song with Shawn during the CSS 2 Grand Finals duet segment. This photograph was taken by a MediaCorp photographer during the actual event night itself.
Teresa posing with a group of her friends from Katong Convent after the CSS 2 Grand Finals. The photograph was taken by Jinfu, a fanclub photographer of TFC who was covering the CSS 2 Grand Finals event that night. Teresa, beaming in another photograph together with the fun-loving Campus Superstars Season 1. This photograph was taken by a MediaCorp photographer, most likely at the backstage area during the CSS 2 Grand Finals night.

For all of those who missed Teresa and want to know about her through recent photographs...

For all those who wondered who the beautiful female singer was at the opening unplugged item of the CSS 2 Grand Finals night...

I have decided to collated the most recent photographs of Teresa Tseng, Female Champion of CSS 1. 01 August 2007 End of the Day Post

Nail Clipping on The Bus:

I was on my way to work yesterday and I found a digusting pair of what looked like a mother and a daughter. Both of them dressed very well and looked quite tai-tai-ish and I was just trying to nap away at the back of the bus when the mother who sat in front of me started clipping her nails on the bus. Alright...I thought to myself, maybe she had some split nail that must be taken care of immediately. So I closed my eyes again to nap and then I heard the clipping going on and on. Apparently, the mother was clipping away at all TEN of her fingernails and simply brushing those nails onto the floor of the bus. Then she passed the nail-clipper to her daughter, which did exactly the same thing.

I was utterly disgusted and of course, sickened by the sight that my nap on the bus was ruined. What is the world coming to? Beating up of bus drivers? Peeling prawns on the bus? Now, clipping nails?!? Where did all the civility in the people go to?

Maybe it's the pace of life. Maybe it's the stress. Maybe it's the education system. Maybe the people simply don't care about such things anymore. I am getting more worried about how life can go on with such un-civilised people around.

Sexual Orientation - Pre-Determined By Genes or Shaped By Environment?

The Holy Bitch passed me one of her interesting videos links on the above-mentioned because we were discussing about the increasing number of gays and lesbians on the streets of many cities. So while we were at it, we began to wonder if sexual orientation is determined simply but our genitials or is it actually embedded in our genes or actively shaped by the very environment that we are in?

So this 2-minute video is for those who are academically-inclined or are simply curious about how all these sexual orientation debates come about. It does not explain completely why the phenomenon in the video is so but it does open up more ground for exploration and discussion. After all, this world still contains many mysteries and challenges awaiting for people to explore and re-explore issues again.

School Videos of the Top 4 Females in CSS 2:

Blanket of Teresa's fanclub sent me a link, which features the self-made videos of the four girls about their activities in their respective schools. The four videos reveal refreshing sides to the four girls away from stage and although far from professional, I suppose it's the sincerity within the videos that count.

Oh yes, there is a guest appearance of Teresa on Huixian's video footage and for all the faithful supporters of Teresa, they can get to see the plain and even playful side of Teresa (the V-sign after one of the singing portions). I think they really like the song Xiang Nian Ni De Ge very much that they sang it again and again and again. Hahaha...XD

CSS 2 Semi-Finals 3 Song List:

The song list is out on MediaCorp's Channel U's website but I'll need some time to go through the songs before I can make my pre-performance commentary because I don't really know all the songs for this round. So for those who are following my CSS 2 blog series, please be patient. The post should be out within these couple of days.

Report on Teresa's performance on 21 July 2007 at SYF @ Heartlands @ Bishan Junction 8

I chosed this photograph not because it was picture perfect as her wist of hair was in the way, but because it gave Teresa a warmer touch of humanity. She is not perfect but she is beautiful in striving to be as best as she can. What more can we ask of her?

Another stage photograph of Teresa in the middle of her countless performance over the last two years. I will be adding this to the slideshow on my blog as soon as I get some sleep.

Radiance of a star.

The Background Setting:

I went to attend the abovementioned event for one single purpose - to show my support for Teresa, whom I truly believe is worthy of being THE Campus Superstar. After finishing and publishing my blog post on the performance reviews of the CSS 2 revival round, I reached Bishan Junction 8 around 2.30pm and was watching the rehearsal of the event by the various schools, including some interesting dance and percussion groups. At around 3pm, the rehearsal came to an end and I was answered by one of the nice and polite first-aiders present there that the event would officially start around 4pm. So I decided to take a short walk inside the shopping mall before the start, lo and behold, I saw Teresa and her family eating ice-cream inside Haagen Daz near the entrance back into the mall!

At The Table With Teresa and Family:

Since I know Mdm Tseng and Teresa already, it would not be nice not to wave my greetings to them and to my surprise, Mdm Tseng waved me over into the ice-cream parlour the moment she saw me. Needless to say, it was quite a pleasant surprise further that she asked me to sit down with Teresa and the rest of her family and friends at the same table when I approached their table. I was honoured by the fact that I have earned enough trust and respect from all of them to be invited to sit down at the very same table and I was just as delighted that Mdm Tseng was showing me all these in a public setting, in full view of everyone else in the parlour and those walking by.

With Mdm Tseng, Teresa, Haowei (Teresa's brother), Thomas (Teresa's family friend) at the table, the feeling was indeed strange. What is my relationship with Teresa and her family? Even till now, I can't put a finger on it - Supporter? Singing Enthusiast? Mentor? Friend? Maybe it's a mix of everything. I don't know. I suppose as long as Teresa understands my presence in her life can confer constructive benefits to her, I don't want to care about such titles of relationships anyway. As far as I am concerned, it's an expression of trust, respect and faith that binds me and since it is extended by Mdm Tseng through her gesture, it would be just as right to continue the reciprocation. I must say that I was so bowled over by Mdm Tseng's kind gesture that I totally forgot to formally introduce myself to Thomas and Haowei right at the start before sitting down so I'll extend my public apologies here to both of them for my gap in ettiquette at that point.

Teresa beamed at me and waved her greetings before quietly resuming eating her chocolate ice-cream sundae which she shared with her brother whilst Mdm Tseng and Thomas were talking to me for the earlier part of the coffee talk.

Fanclub Activities:

Thomas then went on and off throughout the one-hour table talk over coffee to brief me on the future events and public appearances for Teresa in the coming months and I quickly took mental notes of those details, which I will relay to the rest of the faithful supporters of Teresa on the idollic.com/teresa forum as soon as I worded my post. So for all supporters, new and old, of Teresa, please stay tuned to the mentioned forum as I will relay the updates on Teresa's activities as well as a major request by Teresa to the fanclub members regarding photographs.

The Reason Behind Teresa's Upbringing:

Initially, since the rise of Teresa as a contestant and her eventual crowning as the Female Champion of Campus Superstar Season One, there has been constant flaming and doubt that the supposed refined character of Teresa was just "faked". Today, I was absolutely convinced that I truly know the reason behind Teresa's modest and unassuming character - the quality of her upbringing by Mdm Tseng.

Mdm Tseng was conversing me about how grateful she was to all the people who have been supporting and "doting" on Teresa ever since her rise to Superstardom and she was jokingly telling me that she would poke fun at Teresa that the latter would not need a mother's doting anymore since there are so many people willing to "dote" on Teresa in her stead. I smiled and replied politely (and honestly) that no amount of love from other people can replace a mother's love for her children.

Mdm Tseng explained that it was then all the more important that she kept reminding Teresa that the latter must learn to appreciate all the good that has happened to her thus far and be ever more humble and modest about her achievements (in short, not to take things and people for granted). Mdm Tseng's sincere expression of her values of upbringing on Teresa to me was genuine and I really respect the lady's determination to make sure Teresa's character development remains upright, in face of such success, fame and achievements. All the while when that was going on, Teresa remained quiet and never interrupted her mother's nor Thomas' conversations with me. I eyeballed Teresa, who was still carefully eating the sundae and even rationed her intake and gave the bulk of it to her brother (good manners and good thinking for Teresa - too much cold food before a performance will numb the voicebox).

Michelle, another faithful supporter of Teresa, rang me up on my phone and soon after, she was sitting with the rest of us at the same table, listening into the rest of the coffee conversations. I bet she was just as delighted to be given a chance to have such proximity contact with the Campus Superstar she so admired and respected.

My Conversation With Teresa:

The coffee talk would seemed incomplete without talking to the girl herself and I waited patiently until she had finished her sundae while looking at what her brother was doing under the table all the while - he was playing some sort of football game on a PSP console - just like any quiet school-going boys like to do I suppose. Since most of the talking had been done by Mdm Tseng and Thomas, I just informed Teresa that two of her recent online troubles (which I would not be bothered to dig up again here) have been peacefully resolved and she looked pretty delighted with the news. I supposed I was glad to be of help to Teresa somehow in those two matters. She became quite animated as she started talking about how the two matters came about when Thomas added that one of the perpetrators were actually her schoolmate but both Mdm Tseng and Teresa were understanding enough not to pursue the two matters because there weren't any malice or damage intented or done. Mdm Tseng then poured some herbal tea of sorts for Teresa to drink to cleanse away the ice-cream in preparation for Teresa's performance at 4pm and Teresa took the drink and redid some of her make-up to ready herself.

As rumoured to be, Teresa is actually a very soft-spoken girl who pays careful attention when spoken too and has plenty of patience and manners when she is not being spoken to. I can deduce that Teresa either is too shy to converse more openly with me (especially when there is so many people around - many passers-by stopped for a second look at Teresa when they recognized her from outside the glass windows) or she is still puzzled about in which capacity she should be speaking to me since we got to know each other all the way since the semi-finals of Campus Superstars Season One. Perhaps when there are more opportunities to sit down and talk leisurely, both of us can finally speak more freely (over ice-cream) than ever before.

Campus Superstar 2:

Oh yes, Mdm Tseng popped an interesting question about Campus Superstar Season 2 while Teresa was quietly sipping her herbal tea. She asked me for my take and prediction on the two winners for this coming season. I gave my personal analysis of whom I considered to be two strongest and high potential contestants and both Mdm Tseng and Teresa listened intently at what I have commented on (No, I will never reveal the two names here because that portion is strictly in confidence to all those present at that table only). Then I watched approvingly at Teresa mentally rehearsing her song at the other end of the table as the time for her performance neared.

I made my introduction to both Thomas and Haowei and made some small talk to the latter about where he is currently studying at (a school which I will not disclose without his permission) and how his student life is at the moment. Another two family friends (whose names I could not catch in time) appeared and Teresa and Mdm Tseng took their leave to meet the event organizers for the final briefing before the event's official start.

After five minutes, I rejoined the other supporters, blanket and JR, with Michelle at the open foyer of Bishan Junction 8, which is just next to the ice-cream parlour and hence the generation of the beautiful photographs at the start of this blog post. My personal thanks to Michelle, blanket and JR for taking the time to make it to the event today. A pity quite a number of supporters had other prior appointments which they could not absent themselves from or the gathering would have been even more fun since opportunities for proximity contact with Teresa were abundant today.

Three minutes before Teresa's performance, Teresa came up to both Michelle and myself and politely informed us that she was about to start and five minutes after Teresa got her certificate of participation onstage from the Guest-Of-Honour of the event, Teresa also stayed back to take photographs with a few of the supporters there and of course, posed for two of the exclusive fanclub photos above. We waved our goodbyes and Teresa went off to the foodcourt with her family members at around 4.15pm.

Teresa at MOE SYF @ Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza 14 July 2007

I like her stage attire today. White, clean and comfortable, especially in the hot afternoon. Look carefully to see an exquisite silver teddy bear chain from her neck.

It's hard to tell but the girl's actually nursing a bad flu and cough, yet she is determined to give her best at the event anyway, no matter how she sounds.

I really like this shot of Teresa with her shoulder arched back and the background water fountain bursting into the air. My thanks to the fanclub photographer, blanket.

It was quite a tiring event for my poor legs because I was made to stand for nearly 2 hours. I had to rush there because I was bringing my parents to do some banking in the morning and there was already a lot of waiting then. Thankfully, I was rewarded with a series of not-bad performances by the various schools, a decent performance of two songs by Teresa and best of all, another face-to-face conversation with the girl and Mdm Tseng at the end of the concert.

From the exclusive fanclub photographs above, Teresa wore a plain but very comfortable-looking white dress atop of a simple white top and accessorized with an exquisite teddy bear silver chain from her neck. I think it was quite an appropriate stage attire for a piping hot afternoon on a weekend Saturday. What caught my attention was also the fact that she was the ONLY Campus Superstar for the event and the ONLY soloist song performer whilst the entire concert was full of cheerleading, dances, and band performances.

Teresa sang two songs for the event between 3.40pm and 3.50pm. I could not really recognize the first English song, and my best guess was that it must be related to some SYF theme song, judging from the youthful songwriting tune inside the first song. I could also barely recognize her second song 随爱而飞 because it was actually from a senior singer a couple singer-generations ago, 彭羚 (Phang, Ling Cass). The response from the audience was quite good amidst the occasional peals of screams and cheering from the performing schools.

Nursing her bout of flu and cough for nearly three days, it was pretty obvious that Teresa did not manage to reach her fullest capability during the two song performances. There were indeed some parts that sounded pretty strained and the buildup to a couple of the song high endnotes were also unsteady. I was really worried that Teresa might lose control of her highnotes because flu usually messes up one's perception of notes due to nasal blockages. Strictly speaking, I would have only given Teresa's performances this afternoon a mere 6 out of 10 because of her strong nasal voice but I was happy to see her there to give her utmost to the hundreds there (she was seen coughing quite painfully after her performances at the front row of the audience seats). It was after all a major event and I still see a good measure of professionalism and discretionary control by Teresa to complete her performances. She then continued to live up to her image as a Campus Superstar by paying her absolute attention to ALL the subsequent performances by the various schools. She went onstage another time to receive some sort of participation certificate from the Director of Education I think and she sat there with full concentration all the way until the concert ended around 5.15pm.

After the concert, I finally found the opportunity to walk up to Teresa and waved at her, much to her surprise. I sat down besides her and enquired about how she was coping with her flu and all before her principal decided to take her leave. All of us then walked to the side of the audience area and Mdm Tseng thanked the supporters who were present there for our continual support for her daughter. Teresa was visibly beamed upon seeing the handful of supporters standing there and I proceeded to answer Mdm Tseng that there were actually more supporters (such as blanket) but they had to make their way off earlier. I also explained to Teresa that some of the supporters (like Samantha) had to study for their final year examinations and others (like Michelle) were sick and thus reluctantly absent for the events. Teresa nodded her understanding and Mdm Tseng said she was already grateful that the few of us had turned up anyway.

An event organizer by the name of Lawrence popped in and started asking questions about Teresa's next SYF performance and leaving them to discuss work-related issues, I went on to enquire from Mdm Tseng about Teresa's next upcoming public appearance and she replied that it will be on the coming Saturday 21 July 2007 at Bishan Junction 8 around 3.30pm. By this time, Teresa had finished her discussion with Lawrence and everyone went about their ways. On our parting goodbyes, I reminded the girl to take care of her health and left Ngee Ann Civic Plaza with JR, another faithful supporter from her fanclub.

Afterthoughts & Commentary on CHIJ KC 10th EMDD @ Victoria Theatre 07 July 2007

Yes, I was there for the 7pm show. Surprised? I was lucky and managed to get tickets from a faithful supporter of Teresa within CHIJ KC. Decked in a formal attire of white and brown and accompanied by two of the faithful supporters from Teresa's fanclub, I went there solely to support Teresa when I found out that she would be doing a solo performance atop of her choir performance. To my wonderful surprise, I got more than what I expected so I'll dedicate this blog post to all those hardworking CHIJ KC people who had managed to make a memorable evening for the 10th Evening of Music, Dance & Drama. Below are the performances that had made exceptional impressions on me:

Violin Recital by Anthea Lee - Praeludium

I have never seen Anthea perform before but she was good. Strokes were masterfully executed and her concentration with her music was amongst the best violinists I have ever seen performing. What was lacking could have been a smile which would make the performance less sombre and more warming to the audience but all in all, a very impressive violinist from CHIJ KC. Watch out for this girl - she has got a future in the instrument.

Song By Seah Hui Xian - "Bu Ai Wo, Fang Le Wo"

Huixian picked a really difficult song for her solo performance and I could tell that she had put in a lot of effort in it because there were notable improvements in her singing. The only two things that I could complain about was the way she handled the word "Chang2" which was a little feeble and shaky, as well as two instances where her technique of changing breath resulted in the "Ku Qiang" heaving, which must be avoided if she was to make it through the revival rounds of the ongoing Campus Superstar Season 2. If I would to help her improve, it would be the following: Sing to the audience, reach out to them, touch them with your singing.

English Drama - "Tissue"

A very memorable performance by those young actors. I particularly like how they use multiple mirror characters for the protagonist and the use of those two metal slides were symbolically creative and mind-invoking. Pacing of the drama was excellent and the storyline was not so abstract, compared to some of the other productions that I have seen. This is definitely one of the gems for drama - touching, visually-impressive and a good mix of silence and dialogue.

Solo Dance - Yan Zi

The performance by Mr Juraimy Abu Bakar was, in my opinion, far better than the contemporary dance. It is probably because I am more impressed by the difficulty level of solo dances, which are magnified multiple-folds since all the attention is on one single dancer. He was good, especially with the portrayal of the wing-like movements of the swallow. Moves were actually extremely difficult without being overly-showy or ambitious and I could feel the dance energy moving from emotion to emotion. I would look forward to his next performance - another national gem of Singapore.

Song By Teresa Tseng - "Endless Story"

Attired in a beautiful and elegant sky-blue dress, and complemented with a pair of glittering earrings, Teresa appeared onstage in the second half of the event with a solo rendition of Endless Story (right click the link above and open in new window to listen to the song), the original version of the Chinese song "Xiang Nian Ni De Ge" and to my great delight, she sang the entire song in Japanese!

To me, that was a quantum leap in her singing capabilities and her stage confidence as a Campus Superstar because she has always performed Mandarin songs in public and onstage ever since her crowning as the Female Champion of Campus Superstar I. Even if she has prior experience in singing foreign language songs, those would have been in the capacity of a member of the KC choir, which is an entirely different experience when one sings a foreign language song in a solo performance.

As I was told Teresa does read my blog, my assessment of her performance are as follows: Firstly the bad things (I am nitpicking here to stir her to strive harder for continued excellence) - Teresa's lownotes have improved considerably, especially since the song requires tons of those and she cleared with very little perceivable difficulty except for three instances throughout the performance. There was little stage movement so that the performance on the visual end was not as entertaining, especially during the long music interludes in-between the song. The curtain was drawn and Teresa had only one metre's worth of stage to move around. Thankfully, her stage attire was considered very beautiful and eye-catching amongst the cast of performers. For a couple of words in her chorus, Teresa's control was not absolute but she managed to recover quickly.

Now, the good things - It was the best performance by Teresa thus far. Her reach of her voice was mesmerizingly good and holding the audience motionless with the crystalline quality of her singing. She made every possible effort to emote the song to the appropriate levels with a good measure of stage movement and gesticulation within the narrow confines of the performing area. Once again Teresa has reminded me why I picked her as my choice of Campus Superstar to throw my support and aid behind. If I am going to choose all over again, it would still be her because her continual efforts to better herself and honour music with nothing but her best deserves respect and admiration from all those who can listen, see and feel. Way to go, Teresa. You are on your way to your dream.

Congratulations to all the people behind CHIJ KC's 10th Evening of Music, Dance & Drama.

An excellent evening indeed.

Report on Teresa's performance on 30 June 2007 at NEA Youth Eco Concert

Teresa with her signature mega-watt smile onstage at the NEA Youth Eco Concert

Teresa sincerely emoting her songs onstage.

Teresa answering questions from the emcees.

Two of the shining stars in MediaCorp, Felicia and Teresa, having a friendly banter onstage.

I went to the NEA's Youth Eco Concert this evening along with two TFC-ians who managed to contact me in time for the event - Junren and Michelle. I met Junren first and both of us were watching some dance competition before Michelle joined us. The three of us waited patiently for Teresa's turn to perform while the dance groups gave their environmentally-themed performances in front of three judges.

From a distance, we managed to spot Teresa and Geraldine walking out of the celebrities' white tent to watch the dancers perform. Junren wondered if it was possible to get Teresa near the barriers so that he could take a photograph of her and I encouraged Junren to try and talk to the security personnel in getting Teresa out of the tent. After a minute of persuasion, Junren successfully got Teresa out and took an exclusive photograph of Teresa. On seeing Teresa approaching the barrier, Michelle also went over and waved to Teresa, much to the latter's delight. As the security was tight due to the presence of a Member of Parliament, Teresa had to return to the tent but for the TFC-ians who managed to get a close-up encounter with Teresa, it was well worth the wait.

There was this impressive percussion group called Wicked Aura and they gave a stunningly good performance using all sorts of percussion instruments. This was followed by two song items from Jonathan Leong and then two song items from Geraldine See. Teresa appeared as the third celebrity to sing onstage at around 7.45pm. When Teresa's name was called, applause was enthusiastic enough and response was far better than her previous performances. I suppose this would mean that she is finally gaining public recognition for her efforts as time goes by. Teresa was dressed in a smart casual attire of a pinkish top and blue jeans with her hair tied behind in a ponytail.. She sang two Sandy Lam's songs.

Teresa's first song sounded robotic and funny and I quickly deduced that it must have been some wrong equalizer from the sound booth behind the whole audience section. Unfortunately, the sound personnel did not rectify the problem in time and the first song's audio quality was quite marred. What was reassuring was that Teresa still gave her utmost in her performance even though she could probably detected the odd expressions from the audience around her about how she sounded from the speakers. Professionalism and calmness were obviously two of her attributes that contributed to her rise to superstardom.

Teresa's second song finally did justice as the sound personnel must have overcame the problem because she sounded distinctively clearer and more normal from speakers and she proceeded to give a superb performance of the song "Better Man". The audience also lightened up from the previous odd-sounding performance and settled down to enjoy her second performance. Sporadic cheers broke out amidst applause after her second song and I had to rush off to another appointment at Plaza Singapura but both Junren and Michelle stayed back to continue to enjoy the concert. Renfred was the next in line to sing.

To Teresa: You are already an established Superstar and thus I won't be grading you like in your previous performances in great detail though these are still made available to you if you really wanted to know how your performances went. You know how to reach me. Just two things to note: your control of voice during your repetitions of choruses and your opening and trailing notes of the verse "Be A Better Man" sounded a little bit muffed.)

I would like to make use of this opportunity to thank Junren and Michelle for turning up and meeting together to show their support for Teresa. I would also like to compliment their initiative to make contact with Teresa and of course brighten Teresa considerably as they waved their support when they meet up with Teresa across the barrier.

I could also pick out a few more clusters of supporters for Teresa but I suppose the news to meet up together did not manage to reach those supporters in time. Perhaps there is still much work to be done to unify all the scattered clusters of supporters into one larger and more distinctive fan group during future public appearances of Teresa.

Although I took some photographs of Teresa with my camera phone, but Junren brought along a much better digital camera so I'll be expecting him to upload those as soon as he is ready. I won't be in front of my terminal for most of tomorrow so could any of the faithful supporters of Teresa inform the rest once the photographs are uploaded? I would then transfer some of those onto this blog for the viewing pleasure of others who do not have access to the fanclub photo-database.

That is all for now. Have a good Sunday ahead.
