Movie Review: Transformers The Movie

Optimus Prime, Leader of The Autobots - He is a compassionate robot but capable of really fierce fighting when necessary.
Megatron, Leader of The Decepticons - He is a big, scary and dangerous enemy to both Autobots and humans alike.
Blackout from The Decepticons - You cannot imagine how much destruction he can wreck.
Bumblebee from The Autobots - A robot both humorous and touching as it guards over Sam.

I just came back from watching Transformers The Movie with The Holy Bitch and as far as I am concerned, it was a fantastic movie, far exceeding my expectations of it when I myself have watched the cartoon series ever since I was young.

The movie managed to tell the struggles between the Autobots and the Decepticons for a very powerful artifact known as the Cube using a good combination of humour, romance and action. I could barely feel the two hours in the cinema because the plot was told in such a relentless and yet riveting pace.

The romance was interwoven into the storyline using a young couple's uneasy teenage romance that slowly blossomed through courage, cooperation and care in the face of dangers. Teenage love was at its best - awkward, innocent and adventurous.

The humour was brought about by the awkwardness of the young man's attempts to look cool in front of his dream girl, as well as the initial clumsiness of the Autobots when they attempted to get the spectacles of the young man's great grandfather, which had the inscriptions of the location of the Cube.

The action was made breathless but the beautifully-crafted battle sequences alternating between the military men, the Autobots and the Decepticons. Fight scenes were fast and furious and violent, with the deaths of many men and robots throughout the struggle. The computer animations were by far the best seen and sheer magnitude and intensity of the battles kept even the rowdy children in the cinema threatre spell-bound.

My verdict - Even if you know nothing about the Transformers, do get yourself a ticket and watch the movie. You will find it surprisingly entertaining and if you are a fan of the Transformers, don't ever miss this - you won't be disappointed.
