Huixian's endnotes did not manage to reach out properly and sounded quite strained. The first word, second line of the first chorus as well as the last word of the first chorus were also swallowed. Although Huixian made a good attempt that increasing the amount of stage movements and footwork, she should not have turned her back on the cameras and audience and gave up the chance to interact with the audience. Some of her facial expressions were a little too exaggerated, making the singing overly-cute for comfort. Her scores were 7.0+8.0+6.5=21.5. I would have given her a 5.75 .
F2 许政宁 - Super No. 1 原唱者: 卓文萱, Genie
Zhengning's singing was like what the judges said - raw and untrained, which is rather surprising since I would have expected her to train even harder for her vocal skills ever since her first performance but she seemed to be more focused on stagework. Her endnotes were in chaos and her pronunciation of the lyrics was shaky, especially the line "Ni Shi Wo Xin Zhong De Super No. 1", which was supposed to be a punchline for the entire song. Also, the last "Na" of the last verse was also not held on properly and ended too early. Her stage actions were a tad too repetitive (waving to audience as a newbie Superstar is actually a big no-no for me) and one of the judges were correct to point out that her actions were not vibrant enough to integrate into the performance. Her scores were 6.5+7.0+5.5=19.0. I would have given her a 5.25.
F3 张芮恩 - 理想情人 原唱者: 杨丞琳, Rainie
Joanna has a great smile but I think she should learn to withhold it for certain parts of the lyrics because it seemed to affect her pronunciation, especially the lownotes in the bridge section, making it sound as if she was half-chewing her lyrics. She also did not manage to hit the low note of the phrase "Shi Hou" and missed the two words "Biao Qing" in the following line. Compared to the other two female contestants, Joanne made too little use of gesticulation with her free hand and lacked adequate stage movement to add variety to her song, making it a bland visual performance. Her scores were 7.5+7.0+6.0=20.5. I would have given her a 6.25.
M1 饶梓杰 - On The Way 原唱者: 黄俊源
Zijie's singing was way too thin and gentle for the rock song. His eyes were also not focused and failed to bring across the "free-flying" feel of the song. He forgot the second line of the first chorus and his stage posture was too stiff to give the appropriate visual impact needed to nail the performance. His singing was monotonous and lacked enough distinctive punch to move the song forward. The performance highlighted a serious limitation in Zijie's performance versatility - he picked the wrong genre and could not grasp the essence behind rock-and-roll songs. I would have given him a 5.00.
M2 范平庚 Superman 原唱者: 曹格, Gary
Benjamin's last two words of his third line sounded squeaky and he did not really have adequate flexibility in his vocals to twist and change the notes properly so the sensual feel of the song is not felt. Benjamin should have upgraded his wardrobe to suit the genre of this song and he must learn to avoid looking at the stage floor after singing some of his lines. His stage movements were unbalanced by the over-gesticulation of his free hand and shoulders against little stage footwork. However, his performance on the overall remains the most stable amongst all the contestants and it was still enjoyable on the whole. His scores were 8.0+8.0+7.5=23.5. I would have given him a 7.50.
M3 吴福宽 只对你说 原唱者：林俊杰, JJ
It puzzled me as to when Fukuan chosed to look at the stage floor for his opening and then messed it up by stealing a glance upwards. His pronunciation of "Dan Wang" was incorrect and he closed his eyes way too many times than necessary to look as if he was emoting the song, which he fell short of. His endnotes sounded nasal and his singing could not really bring out the difference between the normal verses and the chorus portions adequately. By the start of his second chorus, Fukuan was rushing his song and gotten himself offbeat. He did not manage to rectify his mistake there in time and blotched the performance even more with a drastic offkey word. His stage posture remains rigid and uncreative, compared to the other contestants, which was a disappointment at this stage of the competition. His scores were 6.5+6.5+6.0=19.0. I would have given him a 5.75.
