Alright. It's time for the performance reviews again and it's sad to say that most of the below commentary will not sound nice because I think their performances were not up to par. No doubt I would be flamed by their fiery supporters but I decided to keep the comments as un-sugared as possible in the hope that the contestants can learn from criticisms, not merely relish in praises. Just to clarify that my notes (with earpieces, pen and paper) on the contestants were made during the performances and I only included the judges' afterwards.
F1 黄意凌 倒带 原唱者：蔡依林
Elaine's endnotes were not really very good because she was either breathing too hard or ending them rather too early (as in "Li Kai" and "Chang Bai"). I would suggest either taking the microphone temporarily away whilst breathing or using the nose to offset the extraordinary loud breathing sound when she heaved in. Her eyes were not focused and she chosed to look down on the floor when one of the cameras zoomed in on her. Elaine's left hand gesticulation also looked uncomfortably unnatural and it looked as if she was trying to use the gesticulation to keep the beat. Her highnotes were her saviour but I fully agree with the judges - she picked a song that she has had little to showcase. Her scores were 7.0+7.5+6.5= 21.0. I would have given her a 6.75.
F2 卢慷倚 一比一 原唱者：范玮琪
Agnes' projection of her voice, especially for the first two to three verses were a little weak and she half-swallowed the three words "Geng Que Ding" in the middle part of her performance. Agnes also did not manage to hit the highnote for the word "Man" in "Man Ying" and the judges were correct to point out that her management of her lownotes still lacked clarity and stability. However, she did showed that she thoroughly enjoyed her time onstage and gesticulated quite well for the song. I also saw no shadow of Jiajun nor the original singer in her performance. Her scores were 6.5+8.0+7.5= 22.0. I would have given her a 7.75.
F3 阮诗凯 逃亡 原唱者：孙燕姿
Keely's performance is the worst amongst the girls. Why? The performance was way too stiff and forceful and thus unable to bring out the carefree-ness within the song. Her eyes were too hard and her verses lacked the impactful reach to hit the listeners' hearts. Keely's gesticulation were not properly coordinated at certain parts of the song and like Elaine, chosed to look at the floor when she should be looking at the audience or the cameras. She also over-stretched not just one of her lines but in fact, I think that this song is too difficult for her vocal capabilities at present. Her scores were 6.0+7.0+6.0=19.0. I would have given her a 6.00.
M1 温俊杰 难道 原唱者：洪俊扬
Junjie's lownotes were not buffed up (meaning there were not reserve strength behind the voice) and thus he sounded feeble everytime he ended his lines. His chorus was not really distinctive enough and he chosed to close his eyes when he could have made use of them to emote the song better than what it was then. Junjie's stage movement was jarring when he was at his highnotes and he was offbeat throughout the final chorus repetition. I disagree with one of the judges' comment on his emoting. I personally felt that his performance lacked the emotions to pull up the feel of the song. His scores were 6.5+7.5+6.0= 20.0. I would have given him a 6.25.
M2 许国豪 幸福猎人 原唱者：罗志祥
Guohao actually showed some minor improvements in the way he stopped biting his lyrics and started singing the song. However, he still did not manage to come clean with his first "123456" and "Come on let's go". Although he used a lot of stage movement and facial expression and gesticulation, he still could not cover the fact that his voice has little depth and flexibility in bringing out the necessary groove and feel to this dance track. There was also an over-repetition of that disco move from Forever Fever and I really disliked the fact that he faced his back to the audience at the final part. His scores were 6.5+6.0+6.0=18.5. I would have given him a 5.75.
M3 李俊纬 空秋千 原唱者：林宇中
Easily one of the best performers for QF 3B, Marcus finally eased up and managed to showcase his vocal capabilities with a good choice of song. Although he has made considerable improvements and enjoyed his song himself, I would still want to point out that he moved his shoulders more than necessary and he kept on repeating the same gesticulation with his free hand, as similarly commented by one of the judges. Also, it's a little too energetic for the song. Marcus' endnotes were not adeqately buffed and he swallowed one of his "Deng" in "Deng Shu Liu Xing". One more thing - please don't wave to the audience. It might reflect over-confidence and even arrogance when he might not meant it that way. His scores were 6.5+8.0+8.0= 22.5. I would have given him a 8.00.
